Ong-Bak comic book pictures 2005-07-04
ThailandFight has kindly updated his website with scans of a Ong-Bak comic book which was released in 2003 at the same time than the film. You can check out some scans in the gallery. Right now, I don't know if this book is still available to buy...
 
Tom Yum Goong trading cards update 2005-06-29
Several updates from the TYG trading card team. The box cards might be available to order on their website but it's still not sure right now, more informations later. Anyway, the sets will contain :
* 90 Normal Card with behind-the-scene and storyline on the back of every card
* 18 Sticker Card - Ratio 1:4 (chance to find the card is 1 card / 4 pack)
* 18 Foil Card - Ratio 1:12 with an explanation of the art of muay thai on these cards by Tony Jaa
For people living in Thailand, check out the magazine of Animate Group in Thai language to see a scoop about this card set.

By the way the Tom Yum Goong official website has been udpated with several pictures.

Tony Jaa to promote Thai fruit fair in China 2005-06-21
Tony Jaa, who has won global media acclaim for his role in the hit movie Ong Bak, will turn his hand to the promotion of Thai fruits in China. The actor, whose real name is Panom Yeerum, will promote Thai longans as "energy fruit" during the Thai fruit festival in Beijing (launched on 30 June). Sahamongkol Films, the producers of Ong Bak, have also been roped in by the ministry to make a promotional film which will be shown in Thailand, China and around the world.

More informations about "Mercury Man" 2005-06-18
Thank to Twitch, we have more informations about "Mercury Man", the new and currently in production Thai super hero flick produced by Prachya Pinkaew - director of Ong-Bak and Tom Yum Goong - with fight choreography by Punna Ritikrai - director of Born To Fight, fight choreographer of Ong-Bak, Tom Yum Goong - with the director of Unborn at the helm. No trailer for the moment but you can see the theatrical one sheet, a synopsis page with some film stills included and a detailed page of production notes.

Tom Yum Goong official website updated 2005-06-13
The official Tom Yum Goong website has been updated with some great features including several beautiful pictures (they have been added in our gallery as well, page 3 and more). The new trailer will be available in two weeks.

Some details again about "Tom Yum Goong : the Game" :
- Tony Jaa described the moves of the game in detail.
- History of Tony (things we haven't heard already).
- Tony singing.
- Jokes from Tony.
all of this will be available on the special features disc of the game. A great program ! Thanks a lot to the game designer and Thawan Daeng.

"Tom Yum Goong : The Game" updates 2005-06-13
One of the Game designer of "Tom Yum Goong : The Game" was kind enough to give us some details about the game :

- Program used to play the game : PC
- the character "KHAM", a young man who is skilled in Muay Kotchasan, is in search of the elephant "POR YAI" and a baby elephant by the name of "KORN"
- There are 30 levels you need to pass. The scenes in the game are from the movie as well as additional scenes not from the movie
- There are 25 moves of Muay Thai Boran (or ancient muay Thai) including the new move, "Chahng Tamrai Rong"
- There will be fighting with the use of swords.
- You can switch the character to "PLA" (Tuk Bongkot) in some scenes
- There's a boat chase scene from the movie
- There are added villains from the movie
- Tony Jaa's voice will be in the game (with English subtitles)

The game will come with a special features disc. It includes :
- "behind the scenes" of the movie
- "behind the scenes" of the game
- Other facts and details about Tony Jaa you never knew before !

Twitch has revealed that a new thai film called "Mercury Man" is being shooting right now with an "action designed by the team behind Ong Bak". More informations on Twitch Films and thaicinema.org.
 
Pre-order Ong-Bak UK dvd now 2005-06-10
The Ong-Bak UK dvd is released on 19th September and is available to preorder now on Hong Kong Legends. If you pre-order now you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win exclusive Ong-bak merchandise.

Various updates 2005-06-09
Tom Yum Goong official website has posted a new film poster and a new trailer will soon be available.

Thaicinema.org has confirmed despite many earlier announcements, the long-awaited Tom Yum Goong failed to be screened at Cannes, as the film was still in the editing room during the festival. In its place, the production studio showed the film’s 20-minute-long clip featuring a breathtaking fight scene in which Tony Jaa tackled 30 villains simultaneously (remember they've also filmed a 4 minutes uncut fight scenes between Tony Jaa and Nathan Jones) !!

It was also confirmed that Luc Besson lost Tom Yum Goong distributing right during festival de cannes. TF1, another French distributing firm, will distribute Tom Yum Goong in France (probably during the second semester 2006), while Britain's Contender Film Group secured the distributing right for the rest of Europe. Asian distributors varied for each country.

French Tom Yum Goong release date 2005-06-07
According to screendaily.com, a French Tom Yum Goong release is planned for second semester 2006 via TFM.
Remember the film is due to be released on 11 august 2005 in several asian countries (see below for details). We'll let you know as soon as we have more informations about other countries release.

"Tri: Muay Thai Chronicle" 2005-06-02
Today we heard about a CG animated movie that Tony Jaa could be involved in. "Tri: Muay Thai Chronicle", a not for children supernatural action oriented CG animated film featuring the talents of Ong Bak's Tony Jaa. The film tells a well known Thai folk tale about a young martial arts fighter who must go on a quest to the damaged Gates of Hell - fighting his way through all manner of demons on the way - and repair the gates to save the Earth from certain destruction. Tony Jaa's new project 2005-05-28
Tony Jaa's new project has been revealed : third Jaa's film will be called "Sword" and will team up with the same Ong-Bak and Tom Yum Goong's crew (director Prachya Pinkaew and action choregrapher Panna Rittikrai). The project will depict the heroism of Thai history legendary warriors using their skill in the ancien art of "Dab Thai" : "Double-Handed Sword-Fighting". Read more on the forum.

Tom Yum Goong behind the scenes 2005-05-21
Recent news has it that "Tom Yum Goong : the game" will include a special feature disc that contains "behind the scenes" of the film and the game. It appears that there will also be more special features of Ong Bak as well. "Tom Yum Goong : the game" is expected to be released in August, at the same time than the film.
