Tony Jaa will be the director of Ong-Bak 2! / Filming in June 30-03-2006

According to Matichon.co.th, Tony Jaa will actually by the director and the leading actor of Ong-Bak 2! The shooting has been advanced to June 2006. "However, Panna Rittikrai and Prachya Pinkaew still take a good care of this new diretor. Being too slow for this project is not good, therefore they might start filming Ong-Bak 2 in June."

You can now watch the Japanese Tom Yum Goong Trailer (13 MB, right click and save as). Worth to see! Also, the official Warrior King website (aka Tom Yum Goong) is now online and you can sign up to receive any updates. The film is due to be released in UK on 28th July 2006.

 

 
 
Tony Jaa to shoot Ong-Bak 2! / Japanese TYG promotion / Early films / Making of TYG to win 27-03-2006

Great news! According to Variety.com, Tony Jaa will shoot "Ong-Bak 2" this fall 2006.

Panna Rittikrai, Tony Jaa's master, is in negotiations to direct. Jaa takes an action director credit on the sequel and will play a young man on a journey that teaches him the skills and inner meaning of martial arts. The rights of Ong-Bak 2 were brought by The Weintsein compagny last week :

The Weinstein Co. has bought world rights, excluding Asia and the U.K., to "Ong bak 2," the sequel to 2003's Tony Jaa-starring Thai boxing hit "Ong bak." Deal was struck with sales arm Sahamongkolfilm Intl. on Friday, just after the wrapwrap of Hong Kong's FilMart, and continues TWC's relationship with Jaa. Last year TWC bought rights to his "Tom yum goong" for the U.S., Scandinavia, South Africa and Australia/New Zealand.

Thai distribdistrib Sahamongkolfilm Intl. will handle licensing for "Ong bak 2" in remaining territories. "Ong bak 2" is in advanced development, with production skedded for the fall. Panna Rittikrai, scripterscripter and action director of the original pic, is in negotiations to direct. Jaa takes an action director credit on the sequel.

Jaa plays a young man on a journey that teaches him the skills and inner meaning of martial arts.

Tony Jaa will fly to Japan on April 3th to promote Tom Yum Goong. The film will be released on April 22th and Japanese fans can win tickets for the premiere on April 10th.

Tom Yum Goong finally called Warrior King in UK 21-03-2006

We announced several weeks ago that Tom Yum Goong will be called "Spirit of the Kings" in UK. The title was changed again into Warrior King. The film will be premiered at the Seni06 Film Festival on Sat 6th May 2006 in Birmingham, UK, and you can see a teaser poster on their official website.

 

 
 
Korean Tom Yum Goong DVD includes english subtitles! / Newsletter online / New Poll 20-03-2006

Finally, the Korean Tom Yum Goong DVD released few days ago includes english subtitles! It wasn't mentioned first and it seems that the korean distributor decided to include subs. So if you want to buy the long Tom Yum Goong version with english subtitles, just order it here.

Spirited Killer on DVD 17-03-2006

BCI Eclipse will release in Europe and America a DVD called Spirited Killer in September 2006. The first disc will contain the film Puen Hode (an early film in which Tony Jaa was a stuntman) and the second disc will contain tons of interesting bonus (extras not final) :

TYG release dates / New pictures / Russian Fan Site 12-03-2006

According to IMDB, Tom Yum Goong will be released in Austria and Netherlands on April 21 and June 1th, 2006. The film will finally hits belgium theaters on April 12.
