Great news! According to Variety.com, Tony Jaa will shoot "Ong-Bak 2" this fall 2006.
Panna Rittikrai, Tony Jaa's master, is in negotiations to direct. Jaa takes an action director credit on the sequel and will play a young man on a journey that teaches him the skills and inner meaning of martial arts. The rights of Ong-Bak 2 were brought by The Weintsein compagny last week :
The Weinstein Co. has bought world rights, excluding Asia and the U.K., to "Ong bak 2," the sequel to 2003's Tony Jaa-starring Thai boxing hit "Ong bak." Deal was struck with sales arm Sahamongkolfilm Intl. on Friday, just after the wrapwrap of Hong Kong's FilMart, and continues TWC's relationship with Jaa. Last year TWC bought rights to his "Tom yum goong" for the U.S., Scandinavia, South Africa and Australia/New Zealand.
Thai distribdistrib Sahamongkolfilm Intl. will handle licensing for "Ong bak 2" in remaining territories. "Ong bak 2" is in advanced development, with production skedded for the fall. Panna Rittikrai, scripterscripter and action director of the original pic, is in negotiations to direct. Jaa takes an action director credit on the sequel.

Tony Jaa will fly to Japan on April 3th to promote Tom Yum Goong. The film will be released on April 22th and Japanese fans can win tickets for the premiere on April 10th.
