Hanuman to be Tony Jaa's next film ? 28-05-2006

We already talked about a film project called Hanuman several months ago and it seems that Tony Jaa will actually shoot the film sooner that we thought.

According to Manager.co.th, the script for Hanuman is completed and they are now ready to begin various parts of pre-production phase. Tony Jaa has three projects upcoming : Hanuman, Sword, Ong Bak 2 (which he will direct himself). Hanuman will probably be taken care of first because it is the biggest project.

The auspicious time to start filming this movie has been confirmed as the end of this year, for sure. "Filming should start at the end of the year; we've left a little bit of extra time even though the script is ready. We just need to choose the right location and graphics because we want this project to be visually stunning. So we'll just let everything simmer together for now."

From rottentomatoes : A promo reel is playing for "Ong-Bak 2," but not much is actually shown here (Cannes festival). It begins with the scrolls seen in the original. A monk starts performing a ritual. Tony Jaa, in parallel, does a lengthy Thai martial arts form showing off his artistry, agility, and acrobatics. I'm there."
Here is a closer look to the Ong-Bak 2's poster :

Tony Jaa and Lateef Crowder (Tom Yum Goong) were interviewed by Budo International Magazine (Canada, french language, May 2006). Scans are available in the gallery :

Ong-Bak 2 and Sword confirmed 04-05-2006

Twitch and Wise Kwai's Journal have confirmed from various sources the Ong-Bak 2 and Sword projects :

Tony Jaa will direct Ong-Bak 2, Prachya Pinkaew (Ong-Bak, Tom Yum Goong) will produce it and Panna Rittikrai (Tony Jaa's master) will be involved too. It appears that Ong-Bak 2 won't be a sequel to Ong-Bak but just a way to make it recognizable by everybody. The movie will be an action film and the story will be inspired by khon dance. The filming is expected to start soon, probably next month.

The project called Daab (Sword) is still under production and shooting is expected to start later this year after Prachya Pinkaew finishes his film called Chocolate.
