A friend of mine send me a 9-paged article from a Thai magazine ‘Khwan Ruean’. The article was an interview from Tony Jaa. I think that the time of this interview might be around 2003 to 2004 because Tony mostly talked about his biography and his life as a stuntman before Ong-Bak (as we already know), the success of Ong-Bak in Thailand, and he talked about Tom-Yum-Goong as a project he had prepared to do then. But there is some more information that I’d like to share here.
Tony said something about his excitement for the first film ‘Singh Siam’ (1992) (means ‘Siamese Lion’) with his master Panna Rittikrai. And he mentioned that his next film is Mum Jokmok’s action movie ‘Kuan Ouy’ (1993) that he appeared more recognizably than he did in Singh Siam. Therefore, this would be inferred that the amount of Tony’s early films are more than we know. Additionally, this means that Ong-Bak 1 is not the first film that Tony and Mum starred together, and The Bodyguard 1 is also not the first Mum Jokmok’s film that Tony joins as a cameo. I have no pictures from the movie Kuan Ouy because I do not have its VCD yet. But there is a list of this movie VCD on ethiacd.com; http://www.ethaicd.com/show.php?pid=16859 However, it is not available, or maybe this item runs out. I will look for it later in VCD shops for it is possible that there is some copied item left for sale. Now we only know that there are Mum Jokmok, Tony Jaa, and also Panna Rittikrai in this movie. What does ‘Kuan Ouy’ mean? In Thai, it is written as กวนโอ๊ย. It is a Thai slang to describe anyone who is facetious or provoking to another person. I think that the English slangs that mostly suit the Thai ‘Kuan Ouy’ are ‘be asking for it’ and ‘be looking for a good kick’. Moreover, in the article from Khwan Ruean magazine, there are also some Tony’s photos that are rare to find elsewhere. There is an image depicting when Tony was about 5 years old, as a boy with bulging cheeks standing with his brother and 2 sisters. There is an image depicted only his face, typically using for one's primary student ID card. And there is a picture of Tony in a motorcyler suit when he was a stuntman in the movie “CCJ-Saeb Fah Laeb (1998)”. I have no picture scanner to transfer those pictures and post them here, but I’ll do it later. -------------------- March to the beat of your own drum!!

Ah,
http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/filmID.536027/qx/details.htm Anyway, please remember that I did not try to convince you to buy this movie, because Tony appeared not much, only as a cameo if he really did as he said in the article. On the page of merchandise items of this website, there already mentions this film as one of many early films of Panna. I just found from Tony's interview that it had more than Panna's appearance. -------------------- March to the beat of your own drum!!

thanks for the info p'Thep!! you are definitely the news anchor here!
it's interesting to see all of the work Tony has done before OB. and now knowing that he is in mum jokmok's movie so many years ago, i wonder about the relationships 'behind the scenes' - how long did mum and tony know each other? were they good friends ever since that first cameo? was there a promise made to help each other out? but actually what really interests me in these old movies is panna ritikrai. he's such an incredible fighter/stuntman/choreographer. -------------------- |

Yes, anurak. I'd love to know about that too. I just guess that Mum would consider Tony then a little boy in mentoring of Panna. As we see, Mum and Panna have known each other for a very long long time. -------------------- March to the beat of your own drum!!

Now I've watched this early film "Kuan Ouy". The VCD is so hard to find. Anyway, this movie is so funny, I mean it is so laughable.
So far we know about this movie that it is the 2nd movie in the life of Tony as an actor and a stunt in Panna's team after his first cameo appearance in "Singh Siam". And it is the first movie that he and Mum Jokmok make some appearance together in the same movie (but not yet in the same scene until Ong-Bak 1). Here I'd like to paste many pictures I captured from the VCD, and narrate a rough story in this movie. I have to say that I capture many pictures, and also many shots of Tony, from this early film because the VCD of this film is so hard to find. ---------------- Kuan Ouy (1993) (this early movie might be fimed when Tony was about 16 years old) The Story: Mohg (Thongchai Prasongsanti) keeps going after Noon (Khwandao Rajchata), a beautiful girl in a countryside village. But Noon has no affection for him. And Mha (Mum Jokmok) tries to flirt with Mohg’s sister, Nang (Tanyaluk Rajchata). But Nang is indifferent to his sweet words, besides Mohg always protects his sister from him. One day, along comes an urban guy who claims that he is a recruitment agent named Sia Borisoot (Sompob Wongkor) with his henchman Jet (Kritsanapong Rajchata). Sia Borisoot has a talk with Nang’s father (who is also the headman of this village) and Noon’ father, to take to two girls to work in town as factory workers. But in reality, those urban guys are criminals who try to seduce the girls into prostitution. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The truth that Sia Borisoot is willing to take the girls away for his vicious purpose is revealed after the girls took a ride with Sia Borisoot’s. Therefore, Mohg volunteers to take the girls back from town without anyone accompanied. But Mah keeps following him quietly, and finally they meet each other in the town. They are knocking from door to door, asking people about the place of Sia Borisoot. Without knowing at all, they run into asking some henchmen of Sia Borisoot, and they get attacked. Taem (Panna Rittikrai) sees the situation and helps them out. Mohg and Mah tell Taem about their mission that takes them to town. Suddenly Taem knows that the cruel gang is surely Sia Borisoot’s, because he already saw those girls coming to Sia Borisoot’s place when he visited one of his close friend, Tong, who also works with Sia Borisoot. Therefore, Taem and the two guys are planning to help the girls out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- March to the beat of your own drum!!

And where is Tony in this movie?
Yeah the story goes on: ---------- On the day of this mission, Mohg and Mah fool many henchmen to follow them away from Sia Borisoot’s house, and Taem approaches Tong to convince hin that the girls are so miserable that they should be set free. Tong believes Taem’s words, but their only obstacle is a boy in yellow suit (Tony Jaa) who keeps those girls under good surveillance. Taem fights with the boy and he wins. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Tony Jaa : Can I help you, bro’s? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- March to the beat of your own drum!!

Moreover, Taem fights with another henchmen of Sia Borisoot because the yellow-suit boy reveals the truth of this betrayal to them. But eventually, Mohg, Mah, Taem, and the girls can run away.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The tone of fightings in this early film is not so serious, they’d rather look hilarious and funny. Therefore, we have a chance to see Tony playing with some gags like these. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rather than to run to keep up with Panna who’s running away, Tony chooses to show his competence by performing many back flips. Consequently, he gets himself dizzy, so dizzy that he asks Panna to stand still for him to punch Panna in the face conveniently ! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- March to the beat of your own drum!!

some more pics:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In my opinion, I think that Tony plays this gag of feeling dizzy very well. Maybe this is because it's so hard to find his action like this. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And the last scene Tony appears in this movie, he is kicked by his master, ahh poor Tony. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- March to the beat of your own drum!!
