I agree Thawan,
watching it on DVD would spoil the pleasure to watch it later in a theater
so I'll wait for it when it's released next year..just three months left until february

i work in a university theater and we have a 20' movie screen and a 6000 -lumens data projector, so i will be able to watch the DVD on the big screen

you are lucky that you only have to wait until february. america doesn't even have a confirmed release date yet! it could be december 06...! i can't wait that long. also, i don't particularly want to watch an american version. i'd prefer to watch it in the original thai.

I can't wait that long either. So I ordered the VCD. Luckily my friend who is Thai said if I didn't drool over Tony too much he would come watch it with me and translate as much as he could, depending on how much dialogue there is.
I told him I would cook him dinner for him if he did!

Manymoons, how much is a movie theatre ticket there? Where I live it's $8.00 (American) but with my student id I get $1.50 off.

Manymoons is a little bit busy right now...
a while back, Ongkot mentioned that the price of a movie ticket in thailand ranges from 100-150 Baht, which is less than $4 US. this is quite expensive considering you can buy a good meal for about $1 US.
the price of a movie ticket where i am in NY is about $10. it's much too high. i don't go to the movies anymore. i wait for DVD.

Wow, $10 in New York? And I was complaining about ours !! I am the type of person that has to have a soda and some popcorn too, so movies get expensive for me.
I can't imagine $10 just for a ticket, I'd be broke !!!
Thanks for answering!

medium soda: $4, medium popcorn: $5.

when i was still going to the movie theaters (when tickets were still $7) i would sneak a sandwich and a bottle of water in my jacket. the movie theater would kick you out if they saw you trying to bring food in, so i had to hide it.

Well that's the fun part of being a girl, I just take a huge purse and hide my M&Ms and soda.

But I started feeling guilty about it, so I don't do it anymore!

Hi All,
It's been a while since I last visited. So many things has happend.
I will finally get my chance to watch TYG in Singapore next week! Yehey! I checked GV cinema website and it is showing since this week - I will watch it on Tuesday evening. I have waited for 4 months for this chance and it felt like a long time. I'm so excited!
I saw the announcement for the Elephant Preservation. I am also going to Bangkok (1 day only) and my dream is to see the "Elephant Round-up" in Surin - too bad I will miss it this year. Well, maybe next year!
Best regards to everyone!

Hello everyone, i live in Singapore.Today is the second time i visited Golden Village and watch Tom Yum Goong. The first day was 3rd November,as usual the audience will say "Look at that!"Why do i have a feeling that im going again next weekend, oh my , i need to get the dvd fast otherwise im going to have this bad habit of going to the cinema every week.
Compare to Ong Bak, TYG have 3 times the amount of solid action. The boss fights are so sweet that i wouldnt get bored watching it a hundred times.Johny Nguyen is an awesome fighter, i didn't know he was a real gold medalist in Martial world.Nathan jones was a former k1 fighter.
During this fights, i hear the audience left and right of me shouted"wow!" and "wow!".
The bmx..part,wow i think i wouldn't spoil it further. You must watch this, its the best battles since Bruce Lee movies.

At the end of the movie in the Thai vcd, we can see Mr. Prachya Pinkaew giving some descriptions on how they did the 4-minute longtake scene. He shows us the five takes that they did for that particular scence and explaines what was good and bad in each take

Hello!
I just watched TYG this afternoon - in Singapore.
All I can say about the movie is WOW!

Muay Thai vs Wushu (taolu and with broadsword) and MT vs capoeira! SO COOL!
I left the cinema feeling overwhelmed and tired - so much action!
TYG definitely put action movies to a higher level. All action fans should watch it!

Hi Thawan Daeng and Joe_Higashi,
I watched it at GV at Plaza Singapura. I watched it alone, my friend didn't like action movies that much. It's more enjoyable to watch with friends - at least you can all shout "yeahhh!" at the cool moves.
Movies are cheaper in Manila - about 2USD average a movie. But, I have to wait maybe another year if I wanted to watch it in Manila.

I'll post mines when it's released in my area

I finally got my vcd yesterday =D. The first day it was supposed to be delivered, the delivery guy came while I was at school and everyone was at work. I was like o crap... The second day I was off from school and I waited by the front door, suddenly the guy delivered the package at 11:30am. Interesting couple of days eh?
Anyways yeah the bonus extras where Prachya Pinkaew talked about the filming of the 4 minute scene was very interesting. 5 takes in total, certain portions of the 4 minute scene was done better than the one in the actual movie, and some mistakes were made. But I suppose prachya wanted the whole scene to be as flawless as possible.
Now its time to wait for the dvd... Any idea when the dvd will come out? Around the end of December right? I cant wait to switch camera angles during the fight scenes which is part of a special option bonus of the dvd.

I have seen the VCD and I must say the action scenes where great - but I think TYG isn't as good as Ong Bak, it just misses a certain flair. Ong Bak was rough uncut and raw talent, TYG uses a few things I don't like to see.
SPOILERS START
1.) The part where Tony gets kicked by 20 guys for about 3 minutes without falling down taking any damage - all this while crying.
2.) The blant rip off from Romeo Must Die - where you see the muscle getting cut.
3.) Some sound effects seem so fake - and that idiotic roar by the capo-guy
4.) The English spoken parts sometimes seemed unnececairy
5.) The fact that both Tony and the Lady survive a fall from about 50 feet.
6.) The red scarve.... i know it means something, but it just looks so dumb.
7.) The cheap CG-Cut-Sequences
8.) The beginning of the fight where tony fights this guy in a white jacket after the hotel scene - I mean he goes on and beats up 50 guys then gets beaten up like a school girl and the suddenly starts beating him up like a school girl.
9.) There was no real end to the fight with the capoeira guy.... it just seemed unfinnished.
SPOILER END
Don't get me wrong... i really liked the movie but it was somewhat of a letdown. Still worth watching.

February? whoa... more than 2 months from now.
I saw the movie four times in Thailand. This one time I bought a TYG coffee mug believe it or not.

It came with a good size popcorn and with a drink for only 150 baht. I mean geez, Its not everyday that you get a great combo with a mug for less than 4 american dollars. My cousin found a bootleg vcd and gave it to me before I went into the airport and left Thailand. I was like "WHOA where did you get that???". Apparently it was imported from HongKong coz i saw the credits in chinese or something in it. Watched the action scenes in the bootleg like 20 times (maybe more). When the real vcd came, saw the movie another 4 times.

I prefer TYG to Ong Bak because the boss fights last longer .
Boat chase is more furious than the tuk tuk scene.
It looks international like rumble in bronx or any jackie chan movies.
Better music than the same tune in ong bak.
Mak is funnier in TYG.
You can feel the rage when Tony make his first encounter with Johny .
I like it when Tony crashes that party!Chaos is unleashed .
More fights,
More freedom to beat people up.
No threat to throw matches.
Johny is the best enemy
Nathan is great
Capoira fighter displays his beautiful skills
Muay Boran vs a variety of skills here.In Ongbak, only Toshiro uses martial arts.
And many more.
