hey, i reserved the movie and got it (not in english) the day it came out on a chinese website thingy... i was watching and in the end scene where he just hit the woman off the rope to the helicopter, and he jumps up to kick the man in the airplane, and he falls.
i watched it in slow and to me, it looked more liek he landed and then faked falling...
wanted to know what yall think?
(i like this stff since i myself do thai boxing, capoeira, tae kwan do, and aikido)

last time i quote myself, when i said do, ive only taken tae kwan doe and capoeira classes
i took 1 aikido class ages ago, but i study muay thai, aikido, and actualy a lot of other things
btw, the capoeira fighter in tom yum goong (black dude with pray on this chest) was extremly kick ass fight, probly the best scene in the movie since they are both very advanced martial artists.

If "fake fall" means that Tony didn't really kick the guy's face, Stephens is incorrect.
In the version released to Thai, HK, TW, CH, KR, JP cinemas in August, 2005, we could see clearly that Tony's foot "really" hit the guy's face.
I don't know why the VCD version is different from Thai cinema version.
So I agree the it "looks" fake in the version you see. But want to convince you that it's actually not.
"It was a real kick."

As I said, VCD version is different from cinema version. Thai VCD version is different from Thai cinema varion. Chinese VCD version is different from Chinese cinema as well.
Because TH, CH, JP, KR, HK, TW cinema showed the same version.
And VCD's in all countries are all the same. You got it?
No matter in what language, if it's a VCD, the kick seems not clear because the camera is too far from the helicopter. But in asian cinemas, we all saw the kick very clear. I even felt that the neck bone of the bad guy had to be broken.
Some of the audience even say "Ooh!!" when Kham (Tony) performed that kick.

Unfortunately, I guess European cinema version is the same as VCD.

hello,
stephenS is right.
tony does his kick and lands clearly then faints a falling.
There're plenty of thing like that in TYG, and i have to admit some are disapointing, like the bag hidden when tony jump above the car, or in the same scene when he does a summersault kick(when he's on the van) followed by a falling kick where it's in fact two different scenes..
I reallty hope that for the following film thing will be less "spectacular oriented" and more "physical performance" oriented.
Already in ong bak, to increase impression of violence hits that were supposed to be done a close range were in fact taken in a second shot with a course (for example when tony does a jumping elbow on big bear, or when he throws a guy in barrels when he defends moy and ham lae).

yes, there is quite a few mistakes . Ive came to realise though this isnt hollywood were talking about, its the thai movie industry .they are still developing ,also they are learning from there mistakes so things can olny get better in the next movie ONCE THEY HAVE A BIGGER BUDGET ,I would be suprised if they havent allready recieved some of the negative feedback from TOM YUM GOONG.But lets not forget it was made in a hurry to keep up with the demand ,its clear to see that.

no i've got slow motion
And i don't think any of the mistakes i mentionned are related to Budget.
It all a question of will from tony jaa.

I think it is partly budget not all, dont get me wrong but i love the movie its great. But when you look closely at the set,s it all looks cheaply made.As i said before though the thai film industry is still developing.

We agree on the set. i was talking about the "tricks" tony used.
Those "tricks" are not related to the budget but only decission from tony/pana.

The tricks are still the best in the world of non-cgi fighting.

c.g.i tricks dont look good ,they look pathetic .Thats why tony jaa is the new king of martial arts movies.

Yeah, for examples, "The Matrix" looks more like cartoon. And "The One" does not look realistic.

I dont disslike c.g.i ,i think the c.g.i in tom yum goong is great just the part when tony is dreaming and it shows the warriors protecting the elephant.I like this because it also shows a little bit of thai history

but i do not like the tricks in "the one" and "the matrix"

You didn't like the fight scenes in the Matrix?? I mean obviously they are fake but the choereography genius is there.
