Full Version: What's Your Favourite...?
TonyJaa.org Forum > Tony Jaa on screen > Tom Yum Goong

almost a year ago, i made a topic asking this same question about Ong Bak. now it's Tom Yum Goong's turn!

so what is your favorite scene in Tom Yum Goong?

my favorite scene is the bone-breaking scene at the end. tony uses realistic moves, and then pushes them to the extreme! the stunt team show how skilled they are in really convincing the audience of the effectiveness of these moves. it takes a lot of skill to not get injured!!

second runner up for me is the long-take scene just for the sheer spectacle!

To me the bone-break scene and the boss fight scene are both number one. Then the temple fight and then the 4-minutes scene.

Definitely the bone breaking scene, i felt like i was watching history unroll before my eyes, it was like i knew right then and there i was lucky to watch it and experience it firsthand, people are gonna look back on jaa's movies the way we look back on Bruce Lee's, Instant classics. Although the story wasn't top notch academy award winning its still classic, IMO. The whole movie was great, but that scene took the win for me, i mean the realism of it was good too, i mean i think if you were facing multiple attackers with knives thats how you would do the job-cripple them, but im rambling! I loved it! 69_happy34_.gif

-Bone breaking scene
-Lateef vs Tony
-4 minute uncut scene
-when Tony was actually running on the perpendicular walls in the x-game scene after a jumping spin kick that broke a bulb stick.
-the final stunt in the x-games scene when Tony ran on a glass wall and did a back flip to dodge an oncoming ATV.

The fights against Nathan Jones, the bone breaking scene, the 4 minutes scene in the restaurant, the moment where Tony discovers the bones of his elephant. I cried 32_icon_mrg.gif To me, the acting was very good in that scene. I know some friends of mine were very moved too.

The scenes that I like less than the others are the X-Game and the boat scenes. Probably because I'm not really interested in roller and boat races 01_smile.gif

something else i like about tom yum goong was the little glimpse into thai history regarding the jaturongkabat. these warriors were tremendously important to the kingdom of thailand !
hauntofmars
Oh yeah that animated scene about the kings bodyguards was really cool, it had some good action in it too.

my favorite part is the message the movie puts across from the start,The preservation of elephants.Anybody who wasnt touched by that hasnt got a heart.I am happy to admit that i shed a tear when the mother elephant was killed.I have been lucky enough to spend time with the beautifull creatures and it will always be with me. 01_smile.gif

Hi, we had the same title with OngBak, why not with TYG ? 01_smile.gif

Even though there're some tiny mistakes, we still cannot deny that TYG is a touching film & has many great scenes.

I like the fighting sequel in the temple, among water & fire, very beautiful ! It make me remember the fighting scene between JetLi & Donnie Yen in "Heros" under the rain & among the music. I like 'evrything that beautiful ! 01_smile.gif

And another scene that really made me touched is when Tony come up to the top floor of restaurant & see peole are "having" his elephan, and then Tony enters the room where there're many animals hopelessly waiting for being processed ... It's so touching 22_weep.gif

What's about yours, friends ?

I enjoyed the scene where Tony had to fight Johnny's gang of rollerbladers, and bike riders (which included BMX bikes, a motorcycle, and a 4-wheeler)! The scene was beautifully done and it really showed off Tony's talents as a gymnist and a martial artist.

I do not want to include any information that would spoil the plot for some people, but there were many touching scenes were I felt his pain. His elephant was like a family member, his own flesh and blood... his brother. I find that to be very interesting since I'm an uncultured American who has no idea of about Thai culture.

in this thread, i think it's ok for spoilers. judging by the title of the thread, people should know to avoid this thread if they are afraid of spoilers!

Alright, some forums do not allow spoilers to be discussed unless "SPOILERS" is properly labeled in the title of the thread. Thank you for clarifying this.

right on. for other threads, you would probably have to add the "SPOILERS" label. for this thread, it's ok 01_smile.gif

Oh man, where do I begin. This movie is a CLASSIC. Never a movie where I was so impressed by so many moves. I love the bone breaking scene! I love the amazing kick to the guy in the helicopter, I love when Jaa beats up Nathan Jones and those other steroid guys. I love the fight against Lateef Crowder. And I love the Tony Jaa vs. the x-games scene for his agility. The wall jumps, the fights on the car and in the bus looking things, when Jaa did that back-handstand over the space and shimmied over the ledge to get away from the biker. Also when he ran up the wall and grab the biker by the head and pulled him off the bike. Oh yeah, and when Jaa beat up Johnny with the elephant bell. Look at that. And all of those scenes/moves were immediatly in my head and i didnt have to think about it!

for me TYG is the best tony jaa film since the release of ong bak. there are so many unforgetable action scenes in this film that really shows tony jaa's skills and creativity. i personally like all the action scenes that i will try to categorised them (from 1 being the greatest scene, and weaker towards the last):

1. bone-breaking scene
2. x-games scene
3. 4 minute non-stop action
4. buddhist temple scene
5. kham vs TK and other 3 giants
6. kham vs Johnny
7. helicopter scene
8. kham first action scene
9. boat-chase scene
10. true form of 'Muay Chang Tamlai Roang' (smashing elephant boxing) near the beginning of the film.

nice camera angles and shot techniques to from the director. it just made the movie more interesting and innovative.

there is only one thing i could say - 161_sign26_g.gif

Hi all new to this forum, but big fan of tony jaa and hoping big things from the lad.

fav bits of film, i would say :-

latteef v jaa
two highly skilled martial art experts fighting, great fight choegraphy and i hope to see this dude again.

bone breaking scence
What can i say pure perfection, this is how fight sequences should be done!!

the rest of the film was okay, the x games scene was very good, and the end fights. The 4min no cut part was well done but i would prefer more stuff like the one of above. As diffucult as it is to pull of such a shot, the fights were average (as they would have to be) so i prefer more proper fights like my top 2.

do any of the new members to the forum want to contribute to this discussion...? instead of just chatting off-topic maybe it would be nice to actually discuss tony jaa's movies? 04_wink.gif
