I am in Thailand but I did not find the DVD yet. At first I thought that it was because I live in the province of of Nakhon Ratchasima, not in Bangkok where the products always appeared firstly in Thailand. Alas, I've heard from my friends at tonyjaathai.com in Bangkok that they did not find it. The news of the DVD released is in fact informed yesterday (Feb. 22) on the web of Mangpong.com that means the DVD should have been in market since then, but it all turns out to be a disappointment. 28_suspect_.gif 29_icon_co2.gif

Anyway, I will keep on following the news. I prayed that the disappointment would not last so long, and very soon it would be vanishing. 06_rolleyes.gif
Danny
I'm pretty much looking forward mostly to the multi-angle action scene option and seeing his workout routine features.
Thanks for the news too.

ogami
Do you mean that the VCD making of was the definitive one????

Do you mean that the VCD making of was the definitive one????

It seems that yes... Anyway I've seen that there is a making of on the HK DVD, maybe it's different than the Thai making of.
ogami
yes we'll see. but that would be disapointing not to have a real making of.
That was the strenght of the Ong bak DVD.
Tony Jaa fan
Dang. No deleted scenes on the special features. I recall seeing footage of the fight scene from the trailer and the making of VCD that didn't made the cut in the movie. There is one where Tony have to fight two guys before taking on the capoeira fighter. I'm sure theres more stuff that got taken out....
anurak
maybe that's the footage that is rumored to be saved for the north america theatrical release?
muay_plam
It is nice when they put all the special features on 1 disk im sure the uk dvd will be just as good as the ong back one i couldnt fault it one bit. What i dont understand is why the uk dvd has more special features than anywhere else ?Why didnt they just make all the dvds the same in every country.

There is a footage that is rumored to be saved for the north america theatrical release???
anurak
i thought there was... didn't we talk about the possibility that one of the ways Sia Jiang would try to make more money is to withhold footage from the first phase of theatrical and dvd release (asia, europe), and then put it back in for north american theatrical release? this way north americans who buy the asian/european dvds will still have incentive to see tyg in theaters.

i really hope i'm not making this all up... and if i am, i really hope sia jiang isn't reading this and getting any ideas!!
Ricochan38
I hope the new thai censorship isn't going to have effect on the TYG dvd !?!

if u see what they did to the tiger blade thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif
muay_plam
I dont see why they would do that, the thai,s are used to seeing violence so censoring the movie wont make any difference.
Sawatdee
Did someone watch the DVD ? How are the bonus ?

Dear Friends

I already purchased the TYG Thai DVD a couple days ago. At first, many of the fans here in Thailand felt so disappointed that there are none of the deleted scenes in the full movie DVD. We only heard from a commentary audio track by Prachya and Panna that some of the cutouts may see their light in a later special DVD of TYG (if it is possible to make it out). However, in the special DVD there are some of them in 'world premiere trailer'. We see more of the first fight scenes in a Thai oldies song house. And I could infer from the scenes a reason that they should not be included in theatrical version. It might be that the director wants the first fight scenes to be much more shocking by beginning with the picture of Tony jumping down from the height to knee the villians 16_shock.gif than by beginning with some slightly less impressive fighting scenes.

But, ah, yesterday we were told from our friends in another Thai tonyjaa web that the special DVD must be carefully investigated. Because there are something MORE that are hidden, as if they were Easter Eggs, but not informed in the backcover of the DVD box. 'Oh wow, what an interesting! Did I miss something under my nose? 24_wow.gif ' I murmured to myself and turned on my DVD player again. And....

OH MY GOD! I just found that there are TYG demo scences in the topic 'Live Performance by Tony Jaa' that we have not seen before. (Not another demo scences in many countries). They are demonstration fighting actions that are filmed before making movie like we saw in special DVD of Ong-Bak. Oh, I just found that there are more of the fighting scenes they planned to make out. And they are really COOL! This demo is about 14 minutes in length. It can be found by clicking at the word "Tony Jaa" of the topic 'Live Performance by Tony Jaa'. So clever the DVD makers are because they make the appearance of the topic not so eye-catching that one cannot easily recognize it as one of the entrances to see some interesting pictures. Only the real fans are destined to find them.

And... (my 2nd) OH MY GOD!. In the topic "Tom Yum Goong Trivia" there are 7 stories to tell about what the movie is made for. But..in the 3rd story, besides the trivia included in it, there are some small pictures from the movie. Almost everyone thinks that it is just a decoration picture but in reality it is another entrance to another Easter Egg!! This is another demo pictures in animation version. The animation is mainly about the boat action scene. It shows that at first more of the scene were planned to make in the movie but dropped out because (in my opinion) it might have taken more budgets. And again, they are very cool. 25_dribble.gif

32_icon_mrg.gif Yeah, many of us in Thailand feel much more relieved to see those noticeable things in unnoticeable places of the DVD. The rest of the DVD is interesting too but not so surprised because we were already informed by the information on back cover. I hope that if you buy the DVD from Thailand, you can see them too. 06_rolleyes.gif This is exactly for Tony Jaa's real fans. Enjoy! 02_biggrin.gif rofl.gif

Thanks a lot Thep, I've ordred the DVD and I'm just waiting it to arrive to France 01_smile.gif Looks very interesting!
Thep
Yes Sawatdee. I hope it will arrive there very soon for you (who is the #1 Tony Jaa fan in France and also in this planet earth 02_biggrin.gif .) Besides the superb performance of Tony Jaa, the mentioned Easter Eggs of TYG DVD, your contribution and good work in this website either that amaze me 01_smile.gif

0280.gif Kob Khun Mak Krup!!! Khun Thep for the tips.

1g.gif I did not find out till I start playing with the remote. It was an awesome 7 Demo Action scenes. I believe on the 7th demo action scenes Tony Jaa amazingly shows his superior skill in using chinese wushu broad sword.

16_shock.gif I mean WOW! I enjoy very much everything on this DVD but still disappointed with the fact that this DVD did not have the full version. The other thing the DVD cover is look so fake once you pull it out of the slipcase. I hated the cover and thought that person whoever decide to choose this cover should be smack in the head with Tony Jaa's flying knee kick!!!

Anyway this is a Must-Have Collection for Jaa's Fan yahoo.gif
Danny
Oh I can't wait to see the Live performance feature on the dvd. But how was the multi-angle action scenes and workout with Tony Jaa extras of the dvd?

*Goes to the front door to see if the dvd is here yet*
Joe_Higashi
In Singapore, we only have the vcd version, the Hong Kong movie which starred Sammuel Hung and Steven Seagal , which came out together with TYG in theaters had their DVDs already selling on the stores.

I wonder why it takes so long for TYG dvd to reach here.

Just wanted to say I ordered the DVD from Tom Yum Goong [ DVD ] - 2 Discs edition from ethaicd and the service was great. Painless ordering on-line... and it arrived sooner than I expected.

Sweet!

Click on the link at the home page. It's inexpensive... free shipping... and quick to ship.

Had no customs problems either!!
Sawatdee
Click on the link on tonyjaa.org instead 23_whistling.gif
Don't know why but the products always arrive quite late here in France ! I'm still waiting.
Ogami musashi
I have it since a few days.

I'm a bit disapointed both by the film that is the same as the VCD and the bonus.

Except the hidden demo scenes that are just awesome(why didn't they include more of them??!!) the other bonus are not usefull for me since i don't speak thai for the informations parts and the live performance well i've seen them so many times (including the "new" TYG live perf).

The multi angle cam is a cool feature but well at many times the multi angle version of the cam is the same as the theatrical one just when there're TRICKS in the film (like the bag under the car when tony jumps above it).

Well just like in ong bak i wish i had more of those demo scenes , i personnaly think they're just superb, lot of moves taht tony does here are very artistic and high perf, plus this is interesting to see the evolution of the moves.

well i do hope more of thoses scenes will be released.

TYG will stay a very mitigated film to me.

So in other words... if this First DVD-Edition is actually a cut version, too.... will there be another Tom Yum Goong Special Release DVD this year????

I'm asking that because I'm gonna move to Thailand and have watched this movie already in it's first Release in the cinema...
anurak
the best special feature is the tony jaa fansite weblink. when you insert the bonus disc into a computer that is connected to the internet, it brings up a menu that links to tony jaa fansites around the web. the first category is tony jaa information, and tonyjaa.org is the #2 website listed, behind only imdb.com

congratulations to Sawatdee, the korean fanclub, and all of the other websites that have been recognized on the dvd !
Danny
My dvd finally came today. I mostly enjoyed watching the live action demo scenes when Tony were training with his stunt team in the warehouses. Some parts of the action/stunts didn't even make it into the actual movie and I wished it did. It was cool when Tony took played Jon Foo's part during the training days. It was like Tony was fighting himself and he's pretty good with the broad sword too!

The workout with Tony Jaa bonus feature is an interesting watch too. Very nice performance of some shadow boxing and forms in Muay Thai, stretches, and Krabi Krabong. In the end, Tony advised to all young people that just because you see him doing the moves doesn't mean that you should try the moves on your own. He's been practicing all these moves for a long time now and its easy to get hurt without an adult or experienced teacher to guide you.
Danny
Oh yeah and don't forget to checkout the "World Premiere Trailer" in the theatrical trailer section. The trailer itself has most of the scenes depicting rural Thai life shown in Tyg too. Never have I seen that trailer before. You all will also find some deleted scenes in there too.
Patrick
bought it at this Thai book store called "Dokya" in Los Angeles for about $7.00. God that movie is so tight. New enemies with new fighting style such as the Brazilian martial arts called Capoiera.
Fesha_84
Alright I gave in couple days ago couldn't take it anymore had to order the movie *laughs* even my eldest sister wanted me to order it also. So we're both happy that it's gonna come in. *rubs hands together* all excited. 0235.gif 2thumbs.gif

Hi, since I am Half Thai, I moved to Thailand recently... I bought my TYG DVD two weeks ago. What I want to know is... whether it's the cut version. Cause for me the Cinema Version seemed to be the uncut one, as far as I remember back, when I watched it the very first release with my cousin last Summer.

My thoughts:

-well Tony Jaa's very first Fighting scene when he jumped in the Party Room was cut,... and I had the feeling some fights before were missing...

-when he fought Johnny's two henchmen for the first time on the bridge,... I had the feeling it was cut, when he was about to hit the two...

Clear me up guys, whether I am right about my assumptions. Will there ever be an uncut TYG Edition in Thailand....
Danny
When I've seen the movie in the cinema, I noticed that some segments of action scenes were cut out. The dvd is also the same cut as the one they showed in the movie theater in Thailand as well.

I think its a pretty good possibility that a director's cut dvd might be released. We'll just have to wait and see.
