Wolf
Straight to DVD I'd say, I just don't see that much of a notice yet for it to make Theaters.

Wolf
said "I'd Say" .. I'd Love to see it make Theaters, would be awesome, I say limited theater release if so, not wide release. but I'd like to be wrong 32_icon_mrg.gif

Ong-Bak was on theaters and there were actually lots of news about it on tv. I think Tom yum goong would definetely make theaters in north america. There is not trailers on tv yet because it won't come until end of the year as they say.

The good thing is the movie is 30 percent english that's better then ong-bak. People at least hear some english in the movie. And i'm sure martial arts action fans will love it.

oh by the way the movie is listed on coming soon section in www.tribute.ca this is the best website for canadian viewers. There is lots of info and trailers also contests in it.

did you see the movie yet? a lot of the english dialogue is actually quite difficult to understand! nearly anything that comes out of mum's mouth is barely discernable as english, and tuk's isn't that much better. they might still need english subtitles for their english dialogue parts! the rest of them are good though (many others are native english speakers or have been speaking english for many years).

Yes! I agree with Wolf..... my guess is that Tony has been in much request over here that this time they might have a wider release and distribution.

When Ong-Bak reached the theaters here in Illinois, it showed very limited
selected theaters. I remember only 3. My friends had to drive 45 minutes away to see it. From where I live, it would take me a little over an hour to drive to the closest theater to see it.

I had to wait till it came out on DVD, but discovered the Thai release version online... The english version did not release till 5 months later.

if "ong bak" didn't play in theaters, i probably would have never seen it. thanks to the wu-tang crew (not fans of them) they hyped "ong bak" to be exactly what they said! again, i hope that "tom yum goong" does premiere in theaters as did "ong bak". the english in the movie is merely considered english, as quoted by anurak. i could barely understand what certain characters were trying to even say? if it weren't for the captions, i'd be totally lost! my two requests are, open in theaters along with english captions. as of today & the fan base on this forum, i'm very sceptical about how well this movie will do? either way, t.j. ROCKS!!!! L.A.M.F.F.S.U.T.D. 1e.gif

Ong Bak only showed in 1 theatre here, and when my then boyfriend begged me to see it I said "no way!" I don't want to see another martial arts movie.

16_shock.gif Can't believe I said that!! Of course now I watch OB and TYG all the time. TYG on VCD.

So I am hoping my little independent theatre will play TYG. I would like to see it on the big screen.

I do hope they add subtitles. I would love to see some of the dialogue that was said in Thai. I think it would explain some things for me.
Sawatdee
Tribute.ca lists TYG as The Protector.

29_icon_co2.gif same title as the movie jackie chan made in USA in 1985. they should have just kept the title tom yum goong. afterall, the title was chosen so that it might help peope to recognize it as thai

I live in québec, Canada and i hope that tum yum goong will be in theaters! But the movie will be on dvd in america juste the 31 december but i want to see the movie right now! 01_smile.gif So where can i buy the dvd? cause i know that in many country the dvd will not play on your dvd cause the system of it is not the same... 01_smile.gif
Sawatdee
You can buy the VCD because it's playable on every kind of DVD player.
WHere did you find that TYG will be on DVD on 31 december ?
TKD
On this site!! I found it where it says: tom yum goong date release! it says december 31th! 01_smile.gif
anurak
that is the possible release date for TYG in theaters.
TKD
But what is the difference between a vcd and a dvd?
anurak
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=what+...G=Google+Search

basically, DVD is higher-quality.

VCD can be be played on almost all DVD players and they are not region-specific, so they are playable worldwide. DVD is a specific kind of disc. VCD is video that has been recorded onto a CD.
Sawatdee
Yes it's the possible release date for theaters, not for DVD. Also, this date is not official but it was listed on 31 december on several websites.
TKD
15_sad.gif It's too long! i think that i will buy the vcd on the web...but the only vcd than i find was in thai, and if the vcd is in french or english, it will be correcte also!
Sawatdee
Right now, there is no french or english VCD. I think it worths to buy it even if it's Thai. The french dvd will probably be released in 2 or 3 months.
Sawatdee
The US release of Tom Yum Goong "The Protector" has now been scheduled for 10 November 2006 (official information).

So ah.... what happened to Wu Tang? Are they not helping promote Tony Jaa?? I say.. If they are then its most likely that TYG will be in the theatres,,, mann.... i've seen movies with worser plots than TYG and still made to the big screens.....

how well did TYG do in other countries when it was on the big screens,,, if it was atleast decent then they prolly would make it ,,,, but if not then i doubt it.....

Its about the $$$$$$$$$....... 34_icon_dia.gif
