Full Version: Tony Jaa's Appearance In Nyc!
TonyJaa.org Forum > Tony Jaa on screen > Ong-Bak
Danny
oh man... today was filled with mixed emotions that its like a drama story. Allright so me and my friend went to times square 2 hours before the scheduled show time. We entered through the lobby, looked around for tickets but nothing. We both went to the place where the ticket collecters were at and asked them where to purchase tickets and gain admission into the premiere screening and MOST importantly, Tony Jaa's appearance. I felt torn up inside when they said that tickets were distributed only to people who were lucky enough to run into the distributors and that my only hope was to find someone giving out tickets. Some received invitation with RSVP and being that I dont live in the city or being associated with those companys I didn't receive any kind of ticket. So I walked around with my friend not giving up and thank god there were many warm hearted people willing to share their ticket with me and my friend. It was exhilarating indeed. So we got into the theater successfully and watched the french edited version of OngBak. The music of the movie sounded pretty strange because I was used to the original. Alotta people cheered on, when "OHHHHH!" whenever theres a big stunt or a high impact move by Jaa. Then came what I was waiting for the long awaited arrival of the Tony Jaa himself. Awesome performances, awesome everything. And my prayers has been answered because everyone and myself included get to interact with Tony Jaa after the end of his show, get autographs, and take pictures. He's a great person indeed and he doesn't seem that shy with his fans anymore as he's confident. So yeah my wish came true, i got a picture with him, greeted him in Thai and he asked me "you are a thai person?" I was like yeahhh. Speaking with him wasn't that easy coz there are other fans that he has to interact and meet with. But I got to speak to him alot and know him. And geez I couldn't believe of how buffed Tony Jaa really is.. It puts me to shame  Since Jaa looked skinny as he filmed ongbak. But look at him now like whoa he's made himself into a greater individual.

Anyways I got pics and I'mma attempt to post it up since I never post pictures here before.

Edit: I noticed that the pictures i posted exactly one month ago has disappeared because the picture website i used to host the pictures has phased out of the live servers. Guess i'm using a different server that doesn't phase out so I'll try to repost the pictures.

2nd Edit: well, I'm taking a 2nd shot at re-posting the pictures myself. Courtesy of Thawan Daeng recommending Photobucket.com as the host server for the pics.

Can I ask you a couple of questions

-does Tony speak English and was he freindly?

-isn't that the guy RZA from Wu-Tang Clan in the first pic?

-Why don't you post up the footage of Tony Jaa doing some tricks from your friend?

-The director of ONG BAK was their why did'nt you get his autograph to?

AND YES TONY IS LENGENDARY !!!!!!!!!!
madrox

Yes I am jealous....

Great pictures man and i'd cherish them just as much as you do...

22_weep.gif

Man how i wish i could be you right now...
actually i'd rather be like tony , no offense.

TONY I need you .......
Danny
awww hell yes madrox he is very friendly. He is like an angel willing to help others. In the 3rd to last picture as my arms was around his shoulder like being pals, he was very sweaty. I supposed that he trained and practiced pretty hard beforehand for the sake of putting up the best performance he could. And yes he speaks very good english. Well good enough for simple basic conversations. But I spoke Thai mostly to him seemingly how i'm like one of the very few Thai audiences who walked up to him just to impress him.

and to answer these:

-isn't that the guy RZA from Wu-Tang Clan in the first pic?
Yes that guy is RZA from Wu-Tang Clan and they hosted the whole show before and after the screening of ongbak. They played some hip hop music before the screening just to entertain audiences who already took there seats as more people are arriving into the theater room.

-Why don't you post up the footage of Tony Jaa doing some tricks from your friend?
Well i didnt post up the footage yet because the camcorder belongs to my friend. He's currently in the process of uploading it.

-The director of ONG BAK was their why did'nt you get his autograph to?

Why didn't I get it? hmm.. i was going to get one after i got an autograph from Tony Jaa but I couldnt find the director anywhere anymore. But its too bad that I couldn't ask questions about TYG since he once again just disappeared from my sights. I was waiting for all the people to finish talking, taking picturess so I could interact some more with Jaa.
Tony Jaa fan
That is a interesting story, Danny. Thats dramatic how you were able to get tickets to the show, even when the tickets are for the press. I remeber when I first watch Ong Bak in theater, the crowd was going"oHHHH damn" or "AHHHHH" too. Ong Bak is best experience in a Theater. U must be starstruck when you met Tony Jaa in the flesh. Must have been an interesting experience.

Hey Danny, Are you Thai?

Yes I'm thai. My parents were born in thailand and they came to America a long time ago and I was born in nyc. Every July and August I visit Thailand during vacation to visit my family. But I'm glad that TYG will be out on Aug 12th so I can watch it on time. But I still wish the movie would be released worldwide at the same time for the sake of other fans worldwide of Jaa.

¾Ù´·Ò´éÒÂÂÂÁÒ  13_naughty.gif

yea i can fluently enough thanks to 6 straight years of summer vacation visits to Thailand. Write? well yeah gimme something to write and I can write it. Read? well... not that great haha but I can read Doraemon comics pretty well. I'm still learning to read, write, or even speak better thai at a Thai cultural center school in ny. So its just like Tony Jaa who is learning English so he can be better at reading, writing, and speaking at it, and me as I'm learning thai everyweek to get better at the language.

What does "¾Ù´·Ò´éÒÂÂÂÁÒ 13_naughty.gif" mean by the way?

Its been one week since I met Tony Jaa. And I gotta say that I already miss him  . I'm just putting up the other pictures that I haven't posted up yet just for the heck of it. And yeah feel free to add them to the gallery Sawatdee.

Edit: Once again I'm editing this post too coz like the first post of this thread the pictures has disappeared.

Courtesy of Thawan Daeng's suggestion to use photobucket.com, the pics are back up =)

Hey, that's me with the yellow cheeks. I had my wisdom teeth taken out (all 4) and the day Jaa came was the day my cheeks were still in the process of healng, heh.

My computer is very messy now (even if you're that impatient and want the footage now, I can't even open adobe premiere!) and I really wanna reformat my hard drive. Vacation is coming up, so I'm going to reformat my hard drive, install Premiere, and upload the footage during the weekend perhaps. It was hard holding the camera cause I had another camera in my other hand. But there's many clear footage of Danny and Jaa together.

If you're wondering about my encounter with Jaa, I noticed no one was fighting Jaa. I mean no one wanted to challenge him. So I decided to have a play-spar with Jaa lol. He seemed happy to know that I was doing a bit of Muay Thai at home due to inspiration. Jaa is a very nice guy indeed. He even picked up a little kid (must have been 4 years old) and kissed his cheek and the crowd went 'awwww'.

I promise to upload footage soon.

Which I'm done with by the way.
Here's the clip. It's 5mb.
It's the same ol' stuff. And the people sitting in front were in the way. The performance at the NBA was much better in terms of the camera angle spot.
Download it fast cause I ain't hosting it forever. I need to save space.

thanks for posting the pictures and the video!
Danny
Well it has been exactly one month ago since meeting Tony Jaa and getting to chit chat with him. The first words I said to him in thai was "Sawatdee krub P'Jaa Phanom. Phom Chuee Toi Krab" (Hi Tony Jaa. My name is Toi)Toi is my thai name. And he was like "aow. ben Khon thai rue??" (Wow hey. You are a thai person??" I shook my head saying "krab" (A polite Thai word meaning yes sir or affirmative) Well yeah meeting Tony Jaa a month ago was like finding a long lost brother. Hoping to meet up with him again around in thailand if he's promoting Tom Yum Goong movie on August 12th this summer.

I'm perplexed that the pictures don't all appear. only a very few works. Oh well. at least all of them are in the gallery. I guess I'll find a way to repost them later.
Sawatdee
Danny, I will re-edit your pictures using the adress of the gallery ok ? That way, they won't disappear anymore. But the problem is the pictures in the gallery have the watermark "tonyjaa.org" so if you don't want them to appear please send me your pictures without watermarck by email.

I read an article of this guy who met Tony in the US. Remember :

IPB Image

Well this man wrote some beautiful lines recently :

QUOTE
i went with some friends to eat at a delicious thai restaurant, yeah davis may be small but has a good selection of food! I ordered a Tom Yum Goong - sour and spicy prawn soup (the name of tony jaa's new movie), downed two singha beers and ate some good fried rice with pinneaple! good! damn!

later, using raffi's trademark techniques, i showed a picture of tony jaa and me to a waitress! HA! she went crazy and call the rest of the workers, even a cook came out to see it! (and the waitress was cute ) "Yeerum Phanom! Yeerum Phanom!" (his thai name) they screamed while smiling! wow, he is really a celebrity for them! "he is from thailand!" they said so full of joy and so proud!

anyway, since i had 5 remaining movie posters in the car, before driving back home, i decided to stop at the restaurant and gave the posters to them, oh man, were they happy!! one of them went to the kitchen jumping and running with the poster in his hands! wow! good times!

Seems everybody miss Tony Jaa after meeting him :) Danny, hope you will have the opportunity to meet Tony Jaa again 04_wink.gif
Danny
Hey Sawatdee. Yeah I sent you an email. The thing is that I want to send the attached the pictures from my email address to yours so that you would be able to repost the pictures. But however there was no function that allowed me to attach pictures. Hopefully theres a solution soon. And yes I have to believe that I will see him again. I try not to think of it as a "once of in a life time" event. 04_blink.gif

wow that article by that gentleman is nice. Perhaps I'll do the samething and show it to the people working in the thai restaurant where I've been going usually.

hey danny, sign up with a photo-hosting site. i use photobucket. it's free and they give you the tag/link so that you can cut & paste and not worry about a typo making your pictures not appear. if you have any questions you can PM, IM, or email me and i can guide you through the process.
Danny
cool. thanks Thawan Daeng.

Hmm.. Since I had time and energy to re-post deleted pictures because of the other lousy server, I was able to repost it myself. Consider the email with the pictures sent as a gift Sawatdee =)

hey danny, when you go to thailand you should try to hang out with simplyworld and nilobon and whoever else is there!! go see it opening night together! i think i'll be heading there in november or december-- plane tickets are cheaper in the off-season.

speaking of hanging out, i mentioned before the ny-area people should get together. jaa rules, you're going to school near syracuse, but are you from the metro-ny area? thaiger, any plans to come to NY soon?
