According to bbfc.co.uk, the UK Warrior King DVD (aka Tom Yum Goong) due for release 16th October 2006 will be uncut with a running time of 119 minutes and 57 seconds. The uncut version was shown in Thailand only so it'll be a must-have! More informations later. Thanks again to Barry for the news.

great news!!

i'm really looking forward to seeing the uncut scenes. i wonder if they will improve the flow of the plot, or if they are more fight scenes (which would be great also!).

hehehe and i just have to laugh at the weinstein company. they totally botched their handling of TYG!

I'm not sure if this is such a good thing. I know someone who works on a film magazine specialising in Asian movies who saw the Thai version and he said they needed to edit about 10-15 minutes out of it to make it flow better. I hope the UK DVD will have both versions on it.

Well I have seen the full uncut version on Thai video-cd. Admittedly this had no english subs, but I could pretty much gather what was going on throughout, and not once did it seem to drag. In fact, I actually thought the second half of the film seemed rather rushed, as though the film makers just wanted to hurry up and get to the next action scene. In particular were the scenes in what seems to be some kind of religious place that Tony Jaa visits, goes away, then comes back to find it in ruins -all in three consecutive scenes. If I had it my way, I would extend it to include the scenes they must have filmed but not put in the final cut. As it is now (the 'uncut' Thai version) does not drag in any part of the movie at all. That's my opinion anyway.

Can someone answer this : is the Thai version showed in Thai cinemas different from the Thai vcd ?
Retro Sicotte
Also, does this mean the UK cinema release will be also uncut?

Yes I remember that... but I'd like to know if there are 2 versions actually. Maybe someone who saw TYG in cinema and on vcd can help ?

Think someone has the wrong information. The BBFC have classified the "feature" (not DVD or any future extas for that matter) of Warrior King which has a running time of 109 minutes and 57 seconds (not 119) for cinemas. This running time is very close to the NTSC uncut Thai and Korean DVD releases. Its very likely the same (uncut) version appearing in UK cinemas. The DVD release scheduled for October has not been classifed yet, probably will not be for some time as the release is still likely to be in production. It's not even confirmed by Premiere Asia which version will be used.

I personally was hoping for a chance to see the fullest cut of the film before the director made cuts for time reasons. Maybe this will be on the DVD.

The running time in german cinemas will be 90 minutes. (TOMORROW!!!! 18_drool.gif 07_cool.gif )
And besides, not every cinema will show this film!!!
I think also the DVD will be a cut version like Ong Bak... 0067.gif
We will see...

I don't want to burst anyones bubble, but I have just thought of something. Just because the BBFC have classed the film uncut, it doesn't nessecarily mean it is uncut. Let me explain. The BBFC have passed it uncut, because they themselves have made no cuts to the film that was submitted to them. But perhaps, just perhaps, the distributor of the film has made cuts to it before it was submitted to the BBFC! I know the running time is around the same as the uncut Thai version, but slight snippets of action could be cut (a bone break here, a wallop to the head there), small enough for the running time to appear the same. Also, we haven't considered if any sound effects have been toned down or even removed. There are at least 50 bones broken in the climax alone- the distributor might have thought that too extreme for UK viewers. Like I said, all this could have been done BEFORE the BBFC got their hands on it and passed it uncut. Something to bear in mind, people.

Well, we can't know until it's official so let's wait.

Yes, Sawatdee. And I hope that the full version will be revealed as soon as possible. We may have heard that some scenes were kept and might be revealed later in a special package of Extra-DVD (as Prachya said in his commentary in Thai DVD). However, when I saw the UK posters, I was wondering that some hidden scene is going to be revealed there first. I guess from the poster that you put in this web at;

http://www.tonyjaa.org/gallery/displayimag...at=0&pos=14

We may see that this scene is skipped, before Tony starts fighting with Lateef in the Thai Temple, he had to fight first with Lateef's boys, that are Daniel O'Neil (on Tony leftside) and Dean Alexandrou (on Tony rightside). When I saw this poster, I was thinking whether UK would be the first place where some hidden scene will be revealed. 28_suspect_.gif

However, this is all only a guess. I know that what we can see from the poster does not mean that we will see it in the theatre either. 20_unsure.gif So, I agree that we may have to wait for the official premiere in UK. 33_icon_rol.gif

I hope you're right Thep, it'd be great to see the deleted scenes.

it says the UK dvd will be released on 27th of november and will be 106 minutes long. so does that mean it's not uncut?

http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classified.n...91?OpenDocument

there it says the film will 109 mins long and it says it has not been cut.
Sawatdee
I think Play.com is more up to date so hopefully they will release the uncut version but it's still too early to be sure. Wait and see 01_smile.gif
