I have just bought the Thai version of TYG and compared to the french version it it is much better .
So which version of TYG is the best one ?
French, Thai, Japanese, Korean DVD , and so on..which one has got the best picture,sound,bonus.. and no cut scenes ?

I think that you're right, but as for me I can't say for sure since I can only compare the French/Thai DVDs

actually, i didn't see the US dvd, but i saw the US theatrical release, and they destroyed the story by incorrectly translating the script and cutting many scenes. therefore, i consider it inferior to the thai version.

i assume the thai version is the best because it is the original story the way the original team intended.

I have not seen the american one but I guess that the Thai one is the better one because of it beeing the original one with the whole story.

Hey, I have the "PAL" release... its called "The Warrior King". So are you saying there is bits missing from this??!!

I think i need to go get the Thai version if that is the case

i have 2 version of TYG , the thai version and the frensh ., i like the frensh version because i understand it as well , but the frensh version dont present some characters in fight scenes ...not like the thai because its better ...and the translation make the movie not serious ..

I bought the US dvd and it came with the uncut thai version on disc two, it had good special features and i found out alot of things i didnt know before, i enjoyed it, but hated the theatrical release, especially when they cut out Tony crying in the Tom Yum Goong kitchen....i think as a whole the movie wouldve gotten better reviews heres in the States had they not chopped it up and spoon feed us what they think we want to see, plus Quentin Tarantino absoulutely has nothing to do with this movie.

Damn, I really have to see the american one.

I'm at the crossroads here. Should I go for The Protector (USA) or Warrior King (UK) release ?

(I'm not interested in thai as there are no subs in film or extras)

The version I brought of Tom Yum Goong was Hong Kong version and is one hell of a version.The picture and sound are so loud my ear drums nearly got damaged.
The worst version out there has got to be the U.S version.What is not so good about that one is that RAZA's score is lame and the weinsteans somehow made the Thai version (which is on disc 2)even worse.And they couldn't even put all the deleted footage.

thanks for the info zoolong. can you be a little more specific about what makes the thai version on the 2nd disc so bad? what did the weinsteins do to the movie? i thought that they did not alter the thai version on the bonus disc.

by the way if the sound is so loud it damages your ears, that's because of the volume on your speakers, not because of the dvd!

I did not mean to say that the Tom Yum Goong version on disc 2 is so bad.The only reason I said that is because the Weinstein Company did not put all the damm deleted footage that was cut from the Thai version.
Do you happan to know where can get extended longer Thai version of Tom Yum GOONG?

afaik, the deleted footage has not been re-inserted to any version of the dvd. it's too bad because some of the fight scenes don't make sense without the deleted sections. anyway i think the lack of deleted footage isn't the fault of the weinstein company. it's possible that sahamongkol did not allow the footage to be re-inserted.

just to clear up any confusion:
- there is currently no "extended version" of TYG available on DVD, and there are currently no plans to release a longer version
- the version of TYG on the bonus disc of the weinstein company release of 'the protector 2-disc ultimate edition' is the complete thai theatrical release. this version can be considered the "original" TYG

If they do re-release the extended cut dvd of Tom Yum Goong this is how I think should be:
Disc 1:Thai international version
Disc 2:Thai longer cut.
I think that would be the best version.
