The great action movie ‘Ong-Bak 2’ (from Sahamongkol Film International) has just celebrated its auspicious start by an oblation ceremony. After the world success of Ong-Bak 1, Tony Jaa (Panom Yeerum) now returns with his first time to show his talent as the director, accompanied by the well-known director and martial arts choreographer Panna Rittikrai who will also act as the producer, the action choreographer, and the production manager.

The oblation ceremony is officially open in the area of Ramkhamhaeng Studio, 164th Ramkhamhaeng Lane, in the morning of February 22nd 2007. Besides Tony and Panna who lead the ceremony, it is crowded by a lot of big and competent Thai film stars, such as Pongpat Wachirabanjong, Nirut Sirijanya, Patthama Panthong. And there is a new girl, Janista ChoochuaiSuwan (nickname, Em) who is the leading actress.

Ong-Bak 2 is the gigantic project features Tony Jaa as the captain who has developed his own screenplay. Tony: “Besides being the leading actor, I also take the seat of director. This movie is different from the first Ong-Bak, because Ong-Bak 2 depicts the Thai older period of Ayuthaya. We offer a new style of fighting adapted from Khon Dance Performance called Muay Khon. We always try something new for our fans.”

This March 2007 is the time for Ong-Bak 2 to begin its full gear production. May Tony Jaa fans and martial arts movie fans have to wait for its release date announced later.

In Thailand a couple months ago, there was an audition for the leading actress for OB2, and I heard a rumor that an actress from the MV of Sek Loso song '14 Again' was eyed by Tony's audition team. I'm so excited that they've started filming Ong Bak 2. It's going to be a LONG year waiting for it to hit the US. In the Thai version of The Protector (Tom Yung Goong (sp)) I saw that there was a dance part that was taken out of the US version. I hate that they took it out because it showed a great part of Thai culture. I'm looking forward to seeing what Jaa has created for Ong Bak 2. I may have to take a trip when it opens overseas as I'm sure it will be a long time before it hits the US.

Well p' anurak, its better you don't bother with that, i'm tired toi see peoples that always say that i learn muay this, muay that, or yet muay anything else, from ancient masters, so it won't suprise me when appear on a contry( i know very well what kind of contry) muay khon as an ancient style. There's nothing that we can do, my teacher says when appear some one claiming that ehe studied a style that no one has ever heard before, monks comes out from the temple to test the style and to see if is worth to add on the martial arts book.(too bad from who did)

I’m relatively new to the world of Thai culture and sort of Tony Jaa. I saw The Protector before I saw Ong Bak and I can honestly say I am trippin. I had no idea. I also enjoyed that music video too! It’s always cool to explore a new culture so Thank you guys so much. I love you guys.

Yeah, Angel, I think about it too. But as far as I know, Sahamongkol Film people held that gala dinner to celebrate their success, and to let the press know about their progress. I think that the teaser was only to serve this latter role, therefore it was not publicized. Due to the not yet complete filming of Ong-Bak 2, that portion of the pictures may be considered not good enough to show it to the audience around this time.

I think that if Ong-Bak 2 finishes its filming before this year end, there will be some official teaser for the audience around that time before its final cut.

It's a lot of factors I bet. They have to make sure it's right not only by their standards, but by the producers standard too. Once they get all of that done, they have to time distribution right so the movie will do well. If only they could just give it to US. Business people don't understand art.

And there is no interview from the own voice of Tony Jaa about the ceremony, but there is from the leading actress. She talks to us fans to wait for this movie, and promises that she will do at her best during the production.
