Just curious. What is in Ting's bag when he came to Bangkok besides the money he got from his home village.

Anybody has an idea? Or imagination is ok, too.

that's a good question! i would think right away that he's got clothes and such in there, but when he first encounters hum lae, and hum lae tries to make him go clean up, he says he doesn't have any clothes or anything. BUT... he obviously does have some extra clothes because he eventually changes clothes after the fights in the bar.

also he has the letter from hum lae's father.

Well actually, I didn't wanted to tell you that but in Ting's bag there was a paper with... my phone number on it . Unfortunately the paper was lost during Ting's market chase and was find by... the Tiger. So actually I got a call from him

Moral : be careful when you give your phone call. Write it on something that can't be lost

He has that thing that the monk gave to him as well. I can't remember what he called it. Something that was very sacred and would help him on his journey. It looked like a small stick. Does anyone know the name of this??...

I dont think they gave the name of the stick. It just said it was medicine.

I was very curious about that and i ask to my father. And he tells me he knows very well this product, but he can really explain me correctly in french.

But it's a medecine thing and can give the person who eat it, a big physically power (and maybe an mental one too).

If i'm not wrong, it's a specific asiatic remede.

When Ting was eating this medicine he also spat on his arms. Perhaps it makes people immune to pain.

Perhaps it's some kind of ginseng? Certain kinds of herbal roots in Chinese medicine are actually really effective. I've never heard of any really fast-acting ones, but when you think of herbs like marajuana out there, it's not beyond belief that "Ting" could chew a certain kind of raw plant that inhibits pain (i.e. stimulates the body's own natural production of endorphins) and increases adrenaline flow. There are many plants out there that have been found to do one or the other.

The Herb that Ting ate is like an asian steriod, some people expecially kickboxers would have tatoos on there body that is mixed with this herb with the ink to cure them from pain and sickness some say this can actually make there skin so hard that it can be bullet proof.

I hope it's not a type of steroid because I don't think Ting is the type of guy that would do that. I believe he doesn't cheat his battles.

I don't know what he said in English version, but in Thai version, he said so.

Tattoo doesn't cure any pain by using herbs. The herbs do not make the skin bullet proof.

Here is the thing. In Thailand, people have tattoo for one purpose, which is Mantra (or magic), not a beauty purpose. People who have that knind of tattoo have to follow a certain set of rule to maintain their magic.
The magic type will depend on what is drawn. Diferrent kinds of tattoo will have different kinds of magic.

For example, some of them will make the skin so tough that any sharp tools could not cut through. Some of tattoo are Hanuman and I don't know the meaning of that.

My dad has some. He also taught me some mantra, but I could not remember it since I did not believe in it. But after some reading, it looks like I have to go ask my dad for that again.

Many of my uncles have lots of magic tattoo on their body.

And this kind of tattoo must be done by a certain type of people who know magic or mantra.

There are many kinds of magic in Thailand. We even have lots of "Black" magic which is kind of scary.

About all these magic, some believe, and some don't. It depends.

I think what Ting chewed and spit on his forearms is an ancient herb made from the root of a rare medicinal plant. (Herbs are commonly made from various parts of a plant -- leaves, flowers, stems, roots, etc. Other more expensive herbs are made from animals or mineral elements.)

From Ong Bak, it looked like Ting chewed the root, from which its juices would boost certain body chemical makeup attributing to Ting's endurance and pain tolerance. The herb stimulates the body to create more endorphins, raises blood sugar, boosts the immune system to quickly sustain and repair injuries, thus creating a temporary hyperstate of awareness and endurance.

He spit the remaining juice out, spraying it onto his forearm, to help numb them. As Ting used his forearms quite often, the herb is effective in numbing the pain.

Like any medicinal herb with strong healing and immune boosting properties, it is rarely used, as prolonged uses will have negative effects, usually harming the body's internal organs (liver, kidney...).

If you pay careful attention, you'll see that the herb doesn't take its effect right away. It's not until later in the final part of the fight that Ting felt the full numbing effect.

That thing that the monk gave Ting is Called " Vanh Muen "

which is a numbing herb...... when taken ,, it makes the body numb against pain.....

Thats why he blows that stuff on his arm.. I used to be a monk myself,,, so i heard about these things....

But from the best of my guess,,,, I would think it came from opium Extracts or even made from cocaine or something,,,,
