this thread will be the official Chocolate discussion thread. i'd like to make a special thanks to the members who shared their experiences with the Chocolate premier tour, and i'd like to encourage them to share their thoughts on the movie. members are encouraged to write freely about their opinions, but please do use the SPOIL button if you're going to write about spoilers. if your entire review is going to be a spoiler, go ahead and write the whole thing inside a SPOIL box. it's ok!

my personal no-spoiler review....

i loved it... i liked it more than TYG. Jeeja Yanin was incredible - her acting performance was really convincing and quite touching too. her martial arts ability is amazing too! she executes panna rittikrai's action choreography with a lot of grace. the action star and the choreographer must have a delicate dance together - they have to be compatible with each other in order for the action sequences to look good, and Jeeja and Panna definitely have great compatibility.

the DVD should be out in a few months. when it comes out, i HIGHLY recommend it. the official word from tonyjaa.org is that we are very much against illegal blackmarket dvds, so please don't even think about it. the unofficial word is that i've seen the blackmarket version from a friend of mine, and i think it's definitely NOT worth watching. the picture quality is extremely poor and the camera is tilted throughout the movie so it's quite difficult to see the action sequences. for that reason alone, it's not worth it. there's just no comparison to seeing the real thing. please be patient everyone!!

There's no way for me to see this film here in America. I can't wait until I can purchase it, please keep us updated on when the DVD is coming out!

Thanks for the review Anurak. flowers.gif
I hope it comes out here but I think I will have to get it from Amazon. I'm looking forward to seeing it. 25_dribble.gif

I'm a little bit disappointed by chocolate as far as fight scenes are concerned.

The fights involve too many people and jeeja spend about the half of the fights kicking which is a bit annoying to me.

There're some original and interesting moves in those fights but they're lost in the kicks mania.

In tony jaa's movies, there's more emphasis on the moves themselves, the fights contain less blows but more varied ones.

Also some moves in chocolate are done with wires and, i don't mind for security purposes, but here some of them are really visible.

Finally but i'm sure jeeja will make up for that in her next film, at the beginning i found she was not really hitting convincingly, many of her moves did not portray a lot of power. towards the end tough, she nails it and her fights are very powerful.

Well so, i'm mitigated but there's a lot of hope for the next movies, and again thumbs up for the stunt men..they really do an amazing job.

Couldn't agree more. The first few fights did seem a bit weak, but as the film progressed, she definately stepped up her game. Overall, I was impressed by Jeeja's first film offering, and look forward to her next piece.

Speaking of new work, I wonder what's up with Dan Chupong? What is his next film, and when is it coming out?

Anurak, you're a saint. 18_drool.gif

Yea, I finally got around to seeing the movie. Jeeja is a talented and very acrobatic young woman (cute as well), and some of the stunts she pulled off were amazing, she's like the female Tony Jaa. The only thing she's lacking in her moves is the power and passion that Tony Jaa has when he's fighting. Hence, the fights seemed to be a little too slow and choreographed at times. On top of that, the henchmen were just "letting" her hit them, it just wasn't realistic enough for me. I have to admit though, the fight against the twitchy guy in the dojo at the end was really well done (he was probably the only other capable opponent in the movie). The final outside fight on the balconies was impressive mostly because of the falls the stunt men to the street below; I could almost feel their pain 1e.gif.

I can see her doing great things in the future though and she did a good job for her first movie.

HOOOOOOOOOLLLYYY SHIIIIT GUYS IM IN LOVEEEEE, this movie was off da chain!!!

Better then tom yum goong (hands down), I agree with Anurak, damnnn I was blowed away, she has a great leg control and she is fast and tough, just watch the ending, where she back side kicked this guy, hes head was bleeding!!!Loool, wow no wonder why I trained today 2 hours "alone" hahahhahah 0235.gif 0235.gif

And to Ogami musashi who said this movie was annoying and he was a lil bit dissapointed about it.

Its supposed that she show her basic (same) kicks, it would be annoying if she killed a guy with an 720 cheat kick, butterfly kick to his head...wow, that isnt realistic, just look at her kicks maan, side kick, high kick, back side kick, spinn kick, those kicks I want to see in this movie, and okay, yeah, this movie wasnt that realistic, but I love when they dont show how the double triple hipple kick knock a guy down...its only about fists and kicks.
I mean I know u guys wanted to see some aerials, 540° kicks, 720, double cork or somethin...thats your opinion, I like this movie, why do I? Because it was well made, great action, better then TYG no doubt, and it was tough for everybody, especially for the stuntteam and for JeeJanin.Go watch this movie now!!!

PS: Jeejanin did a great job, I love her, maybe Im in love hahahaha or maybe Im crazy?
I will definitely support her!!!!
Ogami musashi
the question is not about being realistic or not, the question is about having diversity in action.

There's more than a hundred fights in the last 60 minutes of the film and 70% of that is composed of kicks.

The genre have called for figures, even born to fight which had more emphasis on stunts was more varied.

But i'm glad you liked it, the important for you is that you're pleased so that's fine my friend :)

Of course I liked it, I watched it today again, lol born to fight...it had some moments, I like the triple kick of that taekwondo guy, I think he had a red shirt I dunno.
The whole movie was bad, and what was the deal with the "soccer ball"? Lol that was funny...it was unnecessary...made the whole movie bad with that...weird unrealistic stuff lol.

Anyways, u didnt liked the action in chocolate? Well...with this movie she can be the next Cynthia Rothrock or even Michelle Yeoh.
They did a great job in Chocolate, 9/10 from me.
mstrike
The best part in Born to Fight is when the dude kicks the soccer ball like 500 yards and hits the guy in the guard tower. I never laughed so hard in my life.
Ricochan38
the best thai action / fight movie after ong bak and TYG, i hope she will do a new movie

I agree with ado, the movie was amazing and better than born to fight, the movie reaches 87% of my expectatives, that was tottaly amazing.
one of the thing i found funny in the movie content as jeeja inspires herself in ong bak and tom yum goong (in the movie content e mean) it reminds myself replaying ong bak and tom yum goong all the time before start working on a tribute xD
No bad for a movie made of 70% of kicks^^
latona
Yes...that moment when she remembers all the moves of Tony is interesting...and one ofthe best part (for me) is in the end of the film when they're showing the wounds and that they're REALLY FIGHTING!!!WOW! 16_shock.gif

I can also see that on Jackie Chans early movies (Police Story, Police Story II, Dragons Forever, Wheels on Meals, Project A and other), and some of Yuen Biao, Donnie Yen and also the great Sammo Hung Kam Bo :)

But yeah Jeeja has a black belt in Taekwondo. :)
She became an Instructor at the age of 14.
latona
Yeah..you're right...at the end of each Jackie's film i see the making and it's so cool to see the Jackie's hard work and dedication... 02_biggrin.gif I know he has many injuries and broken bones from his stunts...and also as i know he insists that every actor/actress in his filns should make his stunts by themselves 16_shock.gif ! wow!
Unfortunately i didnt watch any film with Donnie Yen...can you recommend me something?
An instructor at 14...! 65_080402co.gif that girl is very taleneted!!!

Tiger Cage 2 (Some real full contact fight scenes)
In the line of duty 4
Drunken Tai Chi (Dont twist it around, unfortunately u wont see any drunken fist style in this movie, dunno why they never changed the movie title name...)
Dragon Tiger Gate
Iron Monkey
Mismatched Couples (Well...its not an action movie, u will only see a good action scene against Dick Wei, a very good one, this movie is more Comedy/Sport, but a funny one)
Legend of the Wolf
Wing Chun
Once Upon a Time in China II
