Just find a little video of a thai tv show interview with Tony. You can download it here :

http://www.tonyjaaonline.com/tv/iptv_0305.wmv (right clik and save as...)

Unfortunately, the show is not complete and you must be a customer to see the whole show. So if someone can download and share it with everybody it would be great (source : http://www.ip-tv.tv)

During the interview, the presenter showed some french magazines (from 2004) and I was able to make the scans for you today. I know a lot of people can't read french, anyway look at the articles because there are some great pictures.

thanks Sawatdee for the magazine scans and the video. Great stuff.

Thanks Sawatdee. Is the interview recent? And anyone can translate whats being said in this interview?

About the magazines, I understand using the words "The Next Bruce" is good way to get people attention but Tony Jaa is Tony Jaa and Bruce Lee is Bruce Lee. Using someone to describe a person is not good in my opinion. Each are individual with their own unique personality and style.

I can't find any martial art magazine coverage of Tony Jaa here in North America which I find strange. I guess Tony Jaa is relativly unknown her compare to others but yet has a strong underground fan base.

Yeah Tony Jaa fan like you said Tony Jaa said "Je ne veux pas imiter qui que ce soit, j'ai mon propre style" it mean : "I don't want to copie someone, I've got my proper style"...

We can see in several magazine this sentence "Tony Jaa le nouveau Bruce Lee" (Tony Jaa the new Bruce Lee) but Tony Jaa say that he had his proper style and he doesn't want to copie someone and that's good ! He doesn't say "Yeah I'm the new Bruce Lee"... it's good !

Hello Madgamers, I'm fine thanks. What about you ? 01_smile.gif
I think there were 6-7 magazines about Tony Jaa in France. What do you mean by "Perhaps you can post some pic about magazines (just the first page) deal with Tony Jaa here if you find it..." ? I already scanned the articles, you can find them here : http://tonyjaa.org/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=29. I know that tere was an article in the magazine called "Le lycéen" but I've never found this article :(

Tony Jaa fan, the magazines were released last year, around april 2004 when Tony Jaa came in France. Madgamers has explain the point with Bruce Lee very well hehe. One of the article say "A new Bruce Lee was not born but a new phenomenon was born". For the interview of "Karaté Bushido", one of the journalist had given to Tony the suit of Bruce Lee in the "Game of death". They wanted him to wear the suit for a photo. Tony has refused and has just put the suite around his shoulders or his waist. "Tony Jaa know who he is and where he come from. No way for him to be taken for the person he admires and no way to talk about ressemblance or any heritage". "I have much too respect for him to be taken for Bruce Lee".
Also we have to keep in mind that Tony Jaa was completly unknow in France last year so I think it was a way for the journalists to introduce Tony Jaa to the french audience.
I will try to translate the main things in the interviews but don't know when 04_wink.gif

Its been well known to me that Tony Jaa love Bruce Lee and many times on record, he would express his apperciation for inspiring him which I find is really cool. I respect Tony Jaa's humble attitude and outlook about himself. I blame the media for constanting trying to turn him into something hes not or theyask him stupid question about if Tony can kick Jackie's ass. I remeber the Korean trailer for some stupid reason feel the need to put down Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li to introduce Tony Jaa. That really piss me off.

Anyhow, props to Tony Jaa for refusing to put the yellow suit on and keeping it real. Be yourself and nobody else.

Can anyone translate the Thai video interview? Just wondering what Tony is talking about.
Goddessy
Because the video wasn't complete, there wasn't enough to get into any detail of anything he was saying. But this is basically what they were talking about.

The host said he was happy to see P'TJ again and was congratulating him on his success and accomplishments. He was showing a series of magazines with P'TJ on the cover, all from France.

The host said "A person must have to be really famous to get on the front cover of more than one magazine! And it seems you're really popular in France!"

Host: You've been all around the world. Has this change your life in any way?
TJ: The best change out of all this was I was able to give back to my parents. I had a home built for parents, as well as money for them.
Host: Where was it built?
TJ: In Surin.
Host: Are your parents very happy with what you have accomplished?
TJ: Yes, very happy and proud.
Host: What did your father say? He used to hold you back, now his chest is about to explode! [in a good way]
TJ: [laughs] To see my father happy, makes me happy as well.
Host: And how about your mother?
TJ: She's happy too. It makes me happy to see my whole family happy.
Host: People who know your parents would say: "You have a famous son now. What are you going to do next?" He gave a great answer: "What am I going to do next? -- farm."
TJ: Yes. I'm very pleased with his answer.
Host: Your father said he's a farmer; therefore I must continue farming. But now I can farm with happiness. 24_wow.gif
Host: Your father is a great man. [end]

I love that last part of the interview. This proves how proud he and his family is of who they are. 02_biggrin.gif I would love to see the rest of interview...But I dunno how that
will be possible. 29_icon_co2.gif
