History:
First saw Ong Bak at the Toronto Film Festival in 2003. Then bought/watched the import DVD many times.
When Ong Bak hit the big screen here in Canada I was naturally excited, and brought some friends along for the opening night.
The print I saw that night was so different than what I saw in 2003 and on DVD.
It was so dark and flat ... really a completely different film! Even the out door stuff was dark.
Heard some folks next to me say "what just happened there"?
Two days later I went to a completely different theater hoping that the first theater just had a bad copy.
No such luck. Looked the same. Super dark.
It was a major disapointment to bring friends along to see such a dark and unimpressive print. The loved the "look" of Ong Bak and I fear that anybody who saw it in the Theater in Canada said "why is this so damn dark!?".
If you did... track down the DVD's... you will see a very different film.
So... my question to you all... how was the print quality for the recent release in other parts of the world??
